48. Melchizedek Is the Jewish Deliverer-Part 2 (Ep. 67)
The Interpretation of Malachi Chapter 3

July 2026

Psalm 110 reveals that Melchizedek is the Jewish deliverer. Episodes 65 and 66 demonstrated that an in-depth analysis of Psalm 110 reveals that the identity of the Jewish deliverer is Melchizedek.

Malachi also reveals that Melchizedek is the Jewish deliverer. A second verification that Melchizedek is the promised deliverer of the Jews is found in the third and fourth chapters of Malachi. The major clue is found in Malachi 3:1. This verse announces the coming of Melchizedek when it states, the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight, behold, he is coming, says the LORD of hosts.

Melchizedek is the Lord whom you seek. Malachi 3:1 identifies Melchizedek in two ways. The first reference to Melchizedek occurs in the phrase, the Lord whom you seek. How may we know that this phrase refers to Melchizedek? First, and most importantly, Melchizedek was lord to Abraham, the founder of the Jewish religion. This conclusion was discussed and explained in Episode 65. Second, David, as a follower of the traditions of Judaism, referred to Melchizedek as my lord in Psalm 110. This was also made clear in Episode 65. Third, Malachi and many followers of Abraham’s religion, as well as the later followers of Jesus, regarded Melchizedek as a divine being, a Lord. This fact is witnessed in the book of Hebrews which recorded that Melchizedek, has neither beginning of days nor end of life, but resembling the Son of God he continues a priest forever (Heb 7:3). Hebrews also validated Melchizedek’s status as an exalted divine being, when it described Jesus as, having become a high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek (Heb 6:20).

Melchizedek is the messenger of the covenant. The second way that Malachi 3:1 identifies Melchizedek is in his characterization of Melchizedek as the messenger of the covenant in whom you delight. How may we know this? First, we must recognize that the phrase, the messenger of the covenant, refers to the personality who brought Abraham the good news of God’s faith covenant with humanity. Second, we must realize, just as Malachi realized, that the conversations portrayed in Genesis as between Abraham and God were conversations between Abraham and Melchizedek speaking for God. This is why Malachi refers to Melchizedek as the messenger of the covenant.

Melchizedek will suddenly come to his temple. Melchizedek taught Abraham revealed religion, in contrast to the prevailing evolutionary religions of those times. These advanced teachings of Melchizedek consisted of monotheism, faith, and obedience to God. These three elements, the concept of one God who was the Father of all, trust in this one God for everything, and doing God’s will, formed the basis of the Jewish religion which was founded by Abraham. Since Melchizedek’s teachings formed the core of this Jewish religion, he is depicted as returning to his temple, the Jewish temple at Jerusalem.

Malachi chapters 3 and 4 are yet another prophecy of the end times. These phrases referring to Melchizedek as the lord whom you seek, and the messenger of the covenant are part of Malachi’s announcement of Melchizedek’s return to earth at the time of the end. The events associated with this time of the reappearance of Melchizedek and his destruction of the antichrist are portrayed in many places in the Old Testament and are detailed in the New Testament book of Revelation. This is a time when the world will have filled its cup of evil to the full and the totalitarian forces of the antichrist have gained world domination. It is referred to as the “time of the end” because it will mark the end of the present world order, the end of the reign of the secular, corrupt, and oppressive kingdoms of men. At this time God will send a divine Son to set things right. This heaven-sent deliverer is Melchizedek; he will usher in the Kingdom of God, and reign in Jesus’ name over the nations forever.

Melchizedek is “King of Righteousness.” The literal meaning of “Melchizedek” is “king of righteousness.” This is a very apt description of this divine Son. He is not only a teacher of righteousness; he is also destined to function as a warrior for righteousness and to become the future ruler of God’s righteous kingdom. He first appeared on our world in Abraham’s time to teach the ways of righteousness to Abraham. He will return to our world presently as a warrior for righteousness to destroy the secular and evil forces that have come to dominate the earth. And after destroying the failed kingdoms of men he will rule the nations forever. He will usher in the everlasting reign of righteousness.

Melchizedek is coming to deliver the righteous. It should also be clearly understood that Melchizedek is not coming to deliver all the Jews or all the peoples of the earth; he is coming to deliver the righteous. His coming will be a time of great testing for all the inhabitants of the earth. Only those who choose the way of righteousness, the way of God, may confidently look to God and Melchizedek for deliverance. Here is how Malachi describes Melchizedek’s coming to the Jews: 2But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears? “For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap; 3he will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, till they present right offerings to the LORD. (Mal 3:2-3).

God’s great promise to the faithful Jews. God’s great promise to the faithful Jews is that He will not only spare them, He will make their land a land of delight and all nations will call [their land] blessed. But again, it must be emphasized that this promise of deliverance is not available to all Jews. For many Jews, like many Christians, have fallen prey to the ways of the world. They have drifted away from the faith of their fathers and adopted a basically secular attitude towards life. If they hope to survive this most testing of times they must turn wholeheartedly back to God, trust in Him, and choose to live their lives serving Him. They must choose between a righteous life submitted to God’ s will and an evil life devoted to the exclusive service of self. Here is what Malachi prophesies: 11I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your soil; 12Then all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a land of delight, says the LORD of hosts. 16a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who feared the LORD and thought on His name. 17“They shall be mine, says the LORD of hosts, my special possession on the day when I act, and I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. 18Then once more you shall distinguish between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve him (Mal 3:11,12,16-18).

Conclusion. This completes Episode 67. The next Episode will discuss Malachi chapter 4 and summarize Malachi’s teachings about Melchizedek.
