The Future of the Teachings of Jesus

47. Melchizedek Is the Jewish Deliverer (Ep. 66)

The Interpretation of Psalm 110-Part 2

June 2026

“The day of the Lord.” At the time of the end of the present world order the antichrist will “gather all the nations” (Zec 14:2) in northern Israel at Armageddon and march south to attack Jerusalem. They will be successful, and half the city will go into exile. This event will trigger the “day of the Lord” and God will directly intervene in earthly affairs sending a plague on the invaders. He will also send a deliverer who will defeat the antichrist and the false prophet and throw them “alive into the lake of fire” (Rev 19:20). The rest of the antichrist forces will be “slain by the sword” (Rev 19:21) of the deliverer.

Psalm 110 answers the question “Who is the Jewish deliverer? Who is the Jewish deliverer who appears at the end of the age and defeats the antichrist? The answer to this mystery may be found by analyzing Psalm 110, which reads as follows:

1The LORD says to my lord: “Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.” 2The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your foes! 4The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind, “You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.” 5The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. 6He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth. (Ps 110:1,2,4-6)

David’s lord is Melchizedek. The preceding episode established that when David speaks of my lord in verse 1 he is referring the figure who was lord to Abraham, the founder of Judaism. And the individual who was lord to Abraham was Melchizedek. This conclusion that God is speaking to Melchizedek in Psalm 110 is verified in verse 4 where God says to David’s lord, You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

Psalm 110 reveals that Melchizedek is a divine Son of God. The preceding episode also revealed that the writer of Hebrews viewed Melchizedek as a divine Son of God. In Hebrews 7:3 he described Melchizedek as, resembling the Son of God he continues a priest forever, and he speaks of Jesus as having become a high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek (Heb 6:20). This revelation of Melchizedek’s divine linage is confirmed in verse 1 of Psalm 110 where God addresses Melchizedek saying, “Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.” The fact that God tells Melchizedek to “Sit at my right hand” indicates that this conversation takes place in heaven and reveals that Melchizedek is not a mere mortal, but rather a divine being, a Son of God. This conclusion is further reinforced in verse 4 where God states, “You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.” This order of Melchizedek is a high order of divine Sonship in service to Jesus.

Melchizedek will defeat his enemies and rule over them. If we substitute Melchizedek for “my lord” in verse 1, the first two verses would read: The LORD says to [Melchizedek]: “Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies your footstool.” The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your foes! In these verses God is telling Melchizedek that He will not only give him victory over his enemies; he is also mandating that Melchizedek will become their ruler. Who are Melchizedek’s enemies?

Melchizedek’s enemies are the secular forces of the antichrist. Melchizedek was Abraham’s lord and teacher. His enemies are the enemies of the peoples who adopted the revealed religion that Melchizedek brought to Abraham, the Jews, and later, the followers of Jesus. Nineteen hundred years after Melchizedek, Jesus built on Melchizedek’s teachings of one supreme God, the Father of all, and faith and obedience, as the Father’s will for his children. Melchizedek’s enemies are those secular and godless individuals who are aligned with the antichrist in opposition to the true religion revealed by Melchizedek and Jesus.

Psalm 110 portrays Melchizedek’s destruction of the antichrist. Verses 2, 5 and 6 state, 2The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. 5The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. 6He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth. This worldwide destruction of kings and nations coming forth from Zion has not yet happened. It comes at the end times when the godless forces of the antichrist have overcome the saints of the Most High, gained worldwide dominance, and conquered Jerusalem. These verses are yet another prophecy of the Jewish deliverer who will free Jerusalem and destroy the evil antichrist forces.

Summary: (1) David’s lord is Melchizedek. In summary, an analysis of Psalm 110 conveys numerous revelations. First, it identifies David’s lord as the figure who was lord to Abraham, that is Melchizedek. This conclusion is verified in verse 4 where God proclaims, You are a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.

(2) Melchizedek is the Jewish deliverer and destroyer of the antichrist. Second, Psalm 110 identifies Melchizedek as the Jewish deliverer who will destroy and rule over his enemies. His enemies are the antichrist forces who oppress the true followers of the religion Melchizedek brought to Abraham, and later built on and enhanced by Jesus. This great climatic event has not yet occurred; it will unfold at the end of the age and will involve Melchizedek delivering Jerusalem and the world from the dominance of the antichrist.

(3) Melchizedek is a divine being. Third, Psalm 110, by presenting a conversation that takes place in heaven between God and Melchizedek, confirms the teachings of Hebrews 6:20 and 7:3 that Melchizedek is a divine being.

(4) Melchizedek is a high Son of God. Fourth, God is sending Melchizedek to earth on a world changing mission of planetary conquest and rule. His mission involves the destruction of the kingdoms of men and their replacement by the kingdom of God. This is no small task; it signifies that Melchizedek is not only a divine being, he is a high Son of God. Melchizedek’s mission, in partnership with God, is to execute judgment among the nations… [and to] shatter chiefs over the wide earth. When this conquest is completed, God mandates that Melchizedek is to, Rule in the midst of your foes! This Son of God is destined to be our future divine Prince, to rule our world made new in the name of Jesus.

Conclusion: Melchizedek is the founder of the Jewish religion, the deliverer of the Jews, and their future ruler. In conclusion, Psalm 110 reveals that the future deliverer of the Jews is Melchizedek, the very same divine Son whose teaching of monotheism and faith provided the original basis for the Jewish religion. And God has further mandated that this same Melchizedek will replace the antichrist as the future ruler of the Jews and the nations of the world.
